Harvestmen Distribution
Working on harvestmen you'll find them great organisms to study biogeography. They feature many endemics and are used in countries like Austrias for biodiversity evaluation and management (see the many contributions of my colleague Christian Komposch. I take great pleasure to create maps of species and groups, as one can find interesting patterns in their distribution, that sometimes hint to the presence of still undiscovered and undescribed forms. In the following, maps are shown that feature groups already reconstructed. Already published data including maps are also feature with the according reference.
The maps are generated dynamically with the awesome tool GPS Visualizer Atlas and may take a while to load with larger numbers of records. Mouse over the records to see the species names and klick on the record to see the associated data. As these maps are a lot of work I claim copyright for now. Enjoy!
Distribution by area: A fun project together with Salvatore Canu reconstructs all Sardinian records. For a recent publication all records from Malta were mapped.
Distribution by taxon: Data already published or to be published soon, and data from a project helped by the Arachnid community. Please see the dropdown menu in the header.
A lot of work was done for maps of all taxa described by Prof. Dr. Jochen Martens. Linked on that page find a map dessignated to all species named after him.
