Starengovia Snegovaya, 2010 - Starengovia kirgizica Snegovaya, 2010
Starengovia is presently only known from two males from Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. These small and inconspicuous nemastomatids differ from all others by the presence of large, trapezoid and translucent wings at the upper part of the penial truncus. Male cheliceral apophyses are hook-like, similar to species of Acromitostoma.
Taxonomy and Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
Closer relationships to other genera have not been discussed but are assumed for the geographically proximate “Mediostoma” pamiricum of uncertain generic placement. Only females of this species are known, prohibiting direct comparison with the male-only based description of Starengovia.
